WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO?
Physical postures, movement, and breath with spiritual and meditative elements. Breath, posture, ritual, and consciousness practices. Using movement, breath, rhythm, dance, stillness, and meditation.
Key elements:
- Rhythm = nervous system regulation
- Drums = heart + brain entrainment
- Repetition = trance induction
- Movement = spirit channeling
- Grounding = earth connection
Healing through motion
- Ritual
- Spirit
- Breath
- Motion
- Consciousness
- Energy
- Alignment
- Healing
- Transcendence
1. Rhythm entrains the brain
When you hear steady drums or repetitive rhythm:
- Brainwaves synchronize (entrainment)
- Beta (thinking) ↓
- Alpha & Theta ↑ (meditative, trance states)
- The default mode network quiets (less ego chatter)
This is the same neurological state reached in:
- Deep meditation
- Breathwork
- Psychedelic states
- Flow states
2. Repetition rewires the nervous system
Repeated movement + rhythm:
- Lowers cortisol
- Regulates the vagus nerve
- Improves emotional processing
- Creates safety through predictability
This is why:
- Sacred dance heals trauma
- People cry, shake, or release emotion
- The body “remembers” before the mind understands
3. Breath + movement = state change
Coordinated breath and motion:
- Oxygenates the brain
- Shifts blood flow
- Activates parasympathetic response
- Opens access to subconscious material
4. Trance is not dissociation
Important distinction:
- Dissociation = escape
- Trance = deep presence
Trance states are:
- Grounded
- Somatic
- Communal
- Time-limited
- Spiritually contained
The person is more in the body, not less.
5. Community regulates the experience
Unlike solo meditation:
- The group provides nervous system safety
- Rhythm synchronizes multiple bodies
- Collective breath stabilizes trance
